Video marketing is very popular today. No wonder, content marketing is booming and one of the most consumed content formats are videos. According to Oberlo, 73% of consumers have claimed that watching videos on products and services has influenced them to make a purchase. Video marketing is popular for a reason, it’s effective!

Don’t expect to reach millions only by creating good video content. You need to find the right channels to share your video. SEO is a great channel to match with videos. Video search engine optimization is to make video content indexed and rank on the search engines. Without SEO, your prospects won’t find your videos.

Things to Consider for Video Marketing & SEO

You need to consider some important points before you plan and implement a video seo strategy for your business:

Audience and business goals

Understand your company goals and make sure you know your audience well. You are creating a video for your prospects. Also to reach certain business goals. So, create videos that addresses customer pain points and develop themes to solve customer issues. Integrating SEO for local businesses into your video marketing strategy can enhance your online visibility in the local market.

Decide on the Type of Video

You can choose from educational or instructional videos or product-related videos. Other formats, like behind-the-scenes, Q&A videos, or customer reviews, are also popular.

Create a Script or a Storyboard

Shooting videos isn’t easy as it can first seem. Having a script of what you’ll say or a storyboard about what how different scenes follow each other will help you a lot when recording. There’s nothing worse than realizing you’ll need to reshoot a scene when you’re already editing.

See If You Have the Right Tools to Record and Edit Videos

Starting out, a modern phone with a good camera that can record videos in 4K or at least 1080p and a tripod is enough. Create a couple of test shots and see if your happy with the audio and video quality. If you aren’t happy with the video quality you can try improving the lighting. Check for any unwanted noises in the place where you’ll record your video. You wouldn’t want unwanted distractions or noise in the background.

Once, you recorded your shots a video editor will help you put it all together.

Tips to Edit Your Videos

editing your videos for marketing
  • Proper color correction and color grading will improve how your footage looks. If you don’t have a proper editing monitor make sure to check the video on more screens. Phones, laptops, bigger computer screens, TVs.
  • Use many cuts. You can split your video into multiple clips and apply editing techniques like jump cuts to stitch them all together.
  • Trim unwanted portions, like verbal nods, blurry shots, poor background images, etc.
  • Add appropriate graphics and animations.

Post Your Business Videos on Omnichannel Platforms

Publish your video content wisely across digital channels. Your official YouTube channel should definitely have all your business videos on it. Embed videos on your website, emails, and social media apps like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat. For some social channels, short teaser of the full video with links to the Youtube video will work best.

Make sure your to add relevant keywords to the title, description, subtitles, and (hash)tags of your video posts. Avoid stuffing keywords, especially in the title and description.

Benefits of Creating Videos to Improve SEO

A video marketing strategy has several benefits and impacts your search engine optimization.

Improve User Experience

Time-on-page is a metric Google uses to rank pages on search results. And visitors will stay on your pages longer if your videos are engaging. This sends a positive signal to search engines and helps your content rank higher. Videos are captivating and it’s better to create bond with your audience than text.

Additionally, creating a logo can improve user experience by providing a visual representation of a brand that helps users quickly identify and differentiate it from others. A well-designed logo can also convey the values and personality of a brand, which can help users establish an emotional connection with it.

Increase Conversions and ROI

The goal of SEO in video marketing is to increase ROI and conversions. Videos attract leads and persuade them to buy your product. Displaying videos on your website or using rich snippets can increase video conversions.

Research by SearchEngineWatch shows that 73% of customers find product videos helpful and give them the confidence they need to buy.

Steps to Optimize Your Videos For SEO

Here are the step to optimize your videos for SEO:

Step 1 – The Editing Process is Critical

Use a professional tool to edit your videos. Add relevant text more so viewers can identify your brand. You also need to connect your videos to your brand by using associated colors, fonts, and logos. Make sure you don’t overdo this, that’ll make your video too salesy.

Step 2 – Add Metadata

Optimize your videos with relevant video titles and meta descriptions. This helps search engines recongize what you video is about and will make your videos rank higher. Titles, descriptions, subtitles, and hashtags are very important for SEO as they help search engine crawlers better understand what your content is about.

Step 3 – Promote Your Video

using social media platforms to promote your videos

Sharing your videos with followers on social media and sending emails to subscribers are a great way to promote your videos. Add your video to your Instagram bio. With Instagram bio link tools, you can add more than 1 link. If people start liking, commenting, and sharing your videos will send social signals. Search engines consider these social signals. This will improve your rankings on YouTube and Google.

Step 4 – Choose the Right Video Length

You must create a compelling intro and outro to your videos. If the audience doesn’t find your video interesting in the first 5-10 seconds, they won’t watch it. It’s good practice to add short clips from your whole video in the first seconds.

Social media platforms have pre-defined video lengths that vary. Instagram stories are now 60 seconds, for example. You can use Instagram presets to give your videos a consistent aesthetic. So, you need to consider this when you cut teasers for these socials.

Step 5 – Transcribe the Video

Transcripts make your videos more accessible to visually impaired viewers. Plus, these give your viewers context to understand your content better and help your page rank higher.

Step 6 – Use Relevant Keywords

Keyword research is critical for creating video content optimized for SEO. You’ll have to know what your audience searches for. Get a list of keywords relevant to your business create cluster for keywords that go well together and cover those in your video content. Add these to your titles and descriptions. You can enter any keyword in an SEO tool and get suggestions for similar and related words.

Step 7 – Add Subtitles

Subtitles encourage video engagement and enhance watch time. Not everyone wants to watch your videos with the sound on. Your video content should be optimized for audiences that aren’t native speakers of a language.

Step 8 – Create Awesome Thumbnails

Titles and thumbnails are the first thing your viewers see. Make sure they are attractive and clickable. Check what kind if thumbnails and titles well-performing YouTube channels in your niche use. And create similar ones that match your brand.

Step 9 – Use Effective CTAs Throughout Your Video

Apply the right CTA in your videos based on audience preferences. Phrases and taglines such as “download now” and “subscribe today” are widely used and work well.

Step 10 – Don’t Forget to Test

A/B testing is critical to compare and determine which format works best for your business. Learn which keywords, images, and videos work best, as it will help you make informed decisions about your next videos.

You must focus on metrics like the views, the number of subscribers, watch time, likes, shares, and comments.

Capping off SEO Video Marketing

Video content optimized for search engines helps businesses get higher conversions and ROI. You need to get creative and follow the steps and techniques above.

Campaign URL builders are an essential part of any online marketer’s toolkit. They let you create trackable links for your marketing campaigns, to help you measure their success and optimize your efforts over time.

In this article, we will discuss what campaign URL builders are, how to use them, and some best practices for getting the most out of them. Let’s get started.

What is a campaign URL builder?

A campaign URL builder is a tool to add UTM tracking parameters to a URL. These parameters are used for tracking how people find your website. You can see how many people visited your website after clicking on that URL.

UTM stands for “Urchin Tracking Module.” A UTM link is a type of URL that website owners use to track their marketing campaigns. UTMs are typically used in conjunction with Google Analytics, and they can be added to any links that are used in promotions or advertisements.

When someone clicks on a link with a UTM, the UTM code will be recorded in Google Analytics. This information can then be used to track the performance of the campaign and see how many people clicked on the links.

The campaign URL builder lets you add these UTM parameters to a URL quickly and easily. Enter the URL into the tool, and then choose the parameters you want to track. The tool will then generate a new URL with the tracking parameters added. You can then use this URL in your marketing campaigns.

UTM campaign parameters

UTM links use UTM parameters to track the source of traffic and conversions on a website. The parameters are:

  • Campaign source: The campaign source is the origin of the traffic, such as a specific website or ad.
  • Campaign medium: The campaign medium is the channel through which the traffic was generated, such as email or paid search.
  • Campaign name: The campaign name is used to identify the specific campaign, such as a product launch or seasonal sale.
  • Campaign term: The campaign term is a keyword or phrase that was used to generate traffic, such as “winter coats” or “party dresses.”
  • campaign content. The campaign content tracks different versions of ads or links within a campaign, such as “banner ad” or “landing page.”

By tracking these parameters, get insights into which marketing campaigns are driving traffic and conversions on your website. Acting on those signals is one of the ways to Boost Your Online Store Traffic and conversions.

Why is creating UTM links important?

To remain competitive, you must understand how users interact with your website. And UTM links are a great way to do this.

With UTM campaigns, track things like the source of the traffic, the keywords that were used, and whether the user converted.

When you understand how users interact with your website, you can make changes that improve the user experience and increase conversions. Creating UTM links may seem like a tedious task, but it’s not. Once you understand what the parameters mean, you can use a URL builder to create UTM tags and campaigns.

Remember, there is a difference between utm links (which we are describing here, which are for analytics purposes), affiliate tracking links, shortlinks, and payment links.

How to use a campaign URL builder

To use a campaign URL builder, enter the URL of the page you want to track, and then add the desired tracking parameters. Most campaign URL builders will allow many parameters. Such as the source of the traffic, the medium, the campaign name, and the keyword. Once you have added all the parameters, click on the “Generate” button to create the tracking URL.

There are many free and great online campaign URL builders, but my favorite two are:

UTM builder: Super-simple URL builder with options for 6 parameters. Generate your UTM URL and copy it for use instantly.

GA dev tools. This is my favorite URL builder because it lets you build different URLs for web, iOS, and Android. The website also gives an explanation for what each parameter means, so you can apply them correctly.

Here’s a quick example of how to use GA dev tools to create a campaign URL:

url builder screenshot with utm fields

First I enter my target page’s URL, which is a blog post on Express Pigeon. I left the campaign ID blank because I can use either this or the campaign name. A campaign ID is mostly used with paid campaigns that involve a lot of ads.

Then I enter the source and medium, which are newsletter and email. I chose these because I’ll be promoting this article in Express Pigeon’s newsletter. Finally, I give it a name and I’m ready to create my campaign URL. I’ve left campaign terms and content empty because these are used with paid search ads.

This campaign URL builder generates a link for me that I can now copy and use across my campaigns.

I can shorten the link too if I wish. Here’s how the shortened link looks:

If you click on this link, you’ll notice that my target page loads with all my UTM parameters in place:

Whenever someone clicks on my link, I can open the Google Analytics account connected to the website to see where the clicks came from.

Best practices for URL campaigns

There are a few best practices to follow when creating URL campaigns.

  • Use lowercase letters. This helps to avoid confusion and makes the URL easier to read.
  • Don’t confuse utm_source and utm_medium. They are two different things and should be used accordingly.
  • Shorten long URLs. This makes the URL more manageable and less likely to cause errors.
  • Don’t use for internal links. Internal links don’t need to be tracked and can interfere with analytics.
  • Stay consistent. Consistency will help you avoid mistakes and make it easier to track your results.
  • Track your links in a spreadsheet. Spreadsheets will help you keep a clear record of your campaign URLs.

Following these best practices will help you create successful URL campaigns.

Create customized campaigns for better tracking

So there you have it. Everything you need to know about campaign URL builders. By now, you should understand what a campaign URL builder is, why creating UTM links is important, and how to use one.

Keep your URLs specific, and spell out all your parameters correctly. This will make it easier to track campaigns. Now go out there and create amazing marketing campaigns.
